Reduced OneDrive limits for Office 365 A1 licences

100GB limit per user, instead of 1TB

In follow up to the previous post about the Office 365 A1 Plus product line being retired, we’ve been made aware that Microsoft have started to limit OneDrive storage space.

Effective February 2024, all Office 365 A1 (free) licences will be limited to 100GB of OneDrive storage. We’ve seen these changes intermittently rolling out across tenants, often affecting a subset of users within a single tenant.

If the user already has more than 100GB of data within their OneDrive, Microsoft can put the user account into a locked state.

We would recommend upgrading to an A3 or A5 licence to reinstate a larger storage limit, or migrate the data from the user’s OneDrive into an appropriately configured SharePoint environment.
